Description:

The J.R. Simplot Company is a diverse, privately held organization, with roots firmly planted in agriculture and agriculture-related businesses. These endeavors have been around for centuries and will continue to be a vital part of the global economy. We currently have a Database Administrator I/II/III position open in our IT Department in Boise, Idaho.

Overview:
Responsible for multiple company wide databases. Implement comprehensive backup and disaster recovery procedures. Manage database security, space requirements and do performance tuning. Provide database-related expertise in database design, sizing, security and configuration. Approve and oversee database installations and upgrades.

Essential Functions:
1. Supports the database production environment by troubleshooting and resolving database problems; designing, coordinating, and installing database structural changes, and monitoring database applications for growth to ensure the availability of adequate resources and optimal performance.
2. Designs database structures that balance the technical requirements, such as efficiency, with the business needs of the organization.
3. Provides the development staff with the training and support necessary to develop effective database application systems.
4. Maintains thorough knowledge of current database management and presentation technologies and methods.
5. Manages all database servers and takes corrective action to minimize down-time and provide acceptable performance, security and reliability. Performs database tuning. Monitors database space, audits backups, and administers security.
6. Oversees database installations and upgrades. Supports the database production environment by troubleshooting and resolving complex database problems. Designs, coordinates, and installs database structural changes to enhance database applications.
7. Designs database structures that balance the technical requirements, such as efficiency, with the business needs of the organization. Provides the development and technical staff with the necessary training and support to effectively use and develop database applications. Maintains a thorough knowledge of current database management and presentation technologies and methods.

Skill/Experience Requirements:
All levels require a Bachelor's degree from a four-year College or University.

Must be able to read and understand technical manuals.

Excellent Project Management Skills Ability to handle multiple projects and tasks with deadlines. Ability to handle constructive criticism. Understanding of basic project management philosophies.

Strong problem solving skills. Good decision making capabilities. Very detailed oriented.

Level I: One plus years related experience.
Level II: Two plus years related experience and/or training.
Level III: Five plus years related experience and/or training.
